Change happens when we are willing to embrace discomfort.
This is my practice right now.
I recognize that my small self wants to pull the covers over her head and stay safe, but I don’t feel I have the luxury to do that.
So I get up,I tell myself I can, sometimes over and over u til I believe it.
I wear the mask I do the thing,I resist the urge- I’m growing my ability to tolerate discomfort, learning to stay present with the uncomfortable.
Moment by moment sometimes it’s saying no- to the drink, to the phone, the text,to the person, to the bully, to my craving, to my own family,to the HABIT and sometimes it’s saying yes- YES to what I know I really need.
Yes to the cliff I’m jumping off, yes to the workout that fuels my body, to the effort it takes to show up and keep showing up, yes to the lockdown shut down, yes to what I cannot control, yes to the dog walk. Yes to the practices and the disciplines that heal me,
Yes to discomfort, yes to growing bigger than my small ego self can imagine.
Yes to learning a new way to live.
This year was a Yes to commitment to marriage😳💗💗💗
Yes to doing things that are hard and a little scary. Yes to breathing :) yes to the truth!!!!
I can feel something growing stronger the more I am willing to ride out the discomfort and become more comfortable being uncomfortable. It’s Exciting and I encourage you to try it. Whatever you want to change the habit, addiction, behavior, you must be willing to be UNCOMFORTABLE!!!!!!!!!!
